5 Social Media Post Ideas for Small Businesses This Week

July 1, 2026 4 min readBy Carson Gahm

One of the hardest parts of social media for small business owners isn't posting — it's figuring out what to post. You sit down, open the app, and stare at a blank screen. Here are five post ideas you can use this week, no creativity required.

Post idea one: behind the scenes. People love seeing how the sausage is made. A photo of your workspace, your team, or a job in progress makes your business feel real and human. It builds connection in a way a polished ad never could.

Post idea two: a customer win. Did you just finish a great project? Share a before-and-after photo and a quick story about it. This doubles as social proof and shows off your work — two birds, one post.

Post idea three: a quick tip. Share one useful piece of advice related to your industry. A landscaper might post about when to fertilize. A plumber might post about how to avoid frozen pipes. Helpful content builds trust and keeps you top of mind.

Post idea four: a question. Ask your audience something simple — 'What's your favorite local spot?' or 'What's your biggest challenge with [your topic]?' Questions spark engagement, and engagement tells the algorithm to show your posts to more people.

Post idea five: a special offer. Run a limited-time deal or discount. 'Mention this post for 10% off this week.' It gives people a reason to act now and tracks which customers came from social media.

Consistency beats perfection. Post three to five times a week using these ideas, and you'll build a real presence. Or, hand it off to me — I manage social media for small businesses so you don't have to. Call or text (989) 350-5433.
