Your homepage does more work than any other page on your website. It's usually the first thing people see, and it has about three seconds to convince them to stay. So what should actually go on it?
Start with a clear headline. Not 'Welcome to our website' — that tells visitors nothing. Tell them what you do and who you help in one sentence. 'Affordable landscaping for Michigan homeowners' is a headline. 'Welcome' is a waste of space.
Right under that headline, put a clear call-to-action. 'Get a free quote,' 'Call now,' 'Book online' — whatever you want visitors to do, make it a big, obvious button. Don't make them scroll to find it.
Next, add social proof. Reviews, testimonials, logos of businesses you've worked with — anything that shows other people trust you. This builds credibility faster than anything you can say about yourself.
Then give a quick overview of your services. Don't list everything — just the main things you do, with a link to learn more. People scan, they don't read. Short sections with clear headings win.
Finally, make your contact info impossible to miss. Phone number in the header, a contact section near the bottom, and another call-to-action button. If someone has to work to reach you, they won't.
If your homepage is missing any of these pieces, it's costing you customers. Call or text me at (989) 350-5433 and I'll show you exactly what to fix.
